Ion Exchange Resins for water treatment systems manufactured by Bayer and Purolite are available for a wide range of applications including Base Exchange Softening, Dealkalisation, Nitrate removal, Organic Scavenging and Demineralisation.

As well as the standard grades of strongly and weakly acidic Cation and strongly and weakly basic Anion Exchange resins, Monodisperse (uniform bead size) resins are also available for many applications which can offer a higher operating capacity with a lower pressure loss, and special food grades for softening and dealkalisation are available.

Ion Exchange Resins currently available include the following;

Cation Exchange Resins
Strongly acidic - Available in Sodium and hydrogen forms for softening and demineralisation.
Weakly acidic - Dealkalisation and cartridges for domestic appliances.

Anion Exchange Resins
Strongly basic - Demineralisation and Organic Scavengers.
Weakly basic - Demineralisation of organic solutions (sugars etc) and high organic waters.

Speciality Resins
Cation exchange resins with indicator dye - to indicate when resin is exhausted.
Ion exchange resins for mixed bed units - to give strict separation when backwashing.
Ready to use resin mixtures - with or without indicator to give high quality deionised water
Nitrate removal resins - selectively removes nitrate in potable water.
Inert resins - for packing counter current systems and three layer beds.
Chelating resins - selectively removes metals from plating and effluent waters.

Filtration media for a wide range of filter applications of potable, raw and effluent waters. These include;

Filter sand (various size ranges) - A granular filter material containing mainly SiO&Mac197; and is used for the treatment of potable and industrial waters for the filtration of suspended solids and removal of turbidity.
It is also used in conjunction with anthracite to improve filter runs.

Support gravel (various size ranges) - A natural gravel, graded, suitable for supporting filter sand or media to prevent migration and to assist in air and backwash distribution.

Garnet sand - A natural Alluvial Almandite Garnet, usually used beneath filter sand in multimedia filters
to remove the finest particles. A coarse grade can be used as a support layer.

Silex - a silica sand used as an under bed for ion exchange and carbon filters.

Birm - a granular filter media commonly used for the removal of iron (ferric) and / or Manganese from
well water supplies. Requires only a periodic backwash.

Greensand - media capable of removing iron, Manganese and hydrogen sulphide from water through
oxidation and filtration. The bed is regenerated using a Potassium Permanganate solution.

Manganese dioxide - filter media containing 80% Manganese dioxide used for the removal of iron (ferric) and / or Manganese from well water supplies. Requires only a periodic backwash. It is often used in conjunction with filter sand in a 1: 2 ratio.

Activated Carbon Coconut shell - a granular carbon media used for chlorine and taste reduction in a variety of water treatment applications and works by absorption. It requires only a periodic backwash to remove suspended solids.

Activated Carbon Coal based - Organosorb is used for removal of organics and colour as well as chlorine or ozone and works by absorption. It requires only a periodic backwash to remove suspended solids.

Anthracite - used in conjunction with filter sand in multi media filters to ensure longer filter runs and to give higher filtration rates by relieving the coarse particulate load on the sand.
